Biography
At the Global Fund John leads innovation in engaging the private sector, philanthropy and innovative finance to accelerate the Global Funds mission to eliminate HIV, Malaria and TB, and build resilient health systems. This includes building catalytic impact initiatives on areas such as women’s health, community health workers, AI and digital health, as well as climate and health that leverage the Fund’s unique platform for scaling equitable access to new solutions.
John has worked in both the private and not-for-profit sectors. He worked in the finance and pharmaceuticals sectors supporting mergers, acquisitions and public listings. He helped establish and manage the first portfolio of the Children's Investment Fund (CIFF). He has been a Regional Manager for Oxfam in East and Central Africa, Country Director in Afghanistan and worked in Northern Sri Lanka. He was a board member of the Mines Advisory Group (MAG), a major mines clearance organization and Nobel Prize co-laureate.
