Biography

John Mdluli has focused on research, advocacy and community engagement in Tuberculosis (TB) and HIV research including prevention and treatment in high burden communities. John is currently employed by The Aurum Institute where he works as Head of Community Engagement under the Clinical Research Division. In this role, he oversees the overall implementation of Community Engagement plans and strategies to ensure enrolment, retention and stakeholder engagement targets are meet on time and within budget. In 2020, John was appointed a secretariat lead for the South African Health and Technologies Advocacy Coalition (SAHTAC). This is the Coalition consisting of wide range of Civil Society Organization that are advocating for Health Research and Development in South Africa. SAHTAC aims to Support evidence-based policy change and implementation; improve coordination of Health R&D funding mechanism and implement a coordinated approach to advocacy.
