Biography

Johnny McNulty serves as Director at the John P. and Anne Welsh McNulty Foundation, articulating the organization’s mission and serving as an ambassador, establishing and nurturing strong relationships with partner organizations.

For 18 years, Johnny has advanced the Foundation’s major initiatives, including the McNulty Prize for courageous leaders of impactful organizations, the Catalyst Fund for early ventures, and new scholarship and leadership development programs. Johnny’s writing has been in the Stanford Social Innovation Review, NYTimes, Time, Chronicle of Philanthropy, and Harvard Business Review. Johnny also supports partner organizations in helping them to further their messaging, including with American U’s Center for Media and Social Impact, which connects comedians and nonprofits. Johnny is a freelance contributor to The Onion.

He formerly worked for the Institute for State Effectiveness under Dr. Ashraf Ghani and holds a bachelor’s in Diplomatic History from UPenn.
