Biography

Joshua Amponsem is the Strategy Director of the Youth Climate Justice Fund. He is the former Climate Lead at the Office of the UN Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth and the Founder of Green Africa Youth Organization - winner of the 2024 Earthshot Prize. He has over 10 years of experience working with youth climate movements across the globe on climate action, disaster risk, and resilience building. He currently serves as an advisor to several prominent international climate organizations such as TED Countdown and UMI Fund. He was named among 100 Most Influential Young Africans in 2022 and served as a Co-Chair on Equity, Fairshare and Justice for the Race to Zero Expert Peer-Review Group. In the past two years, Joshua has focused on supporting grassroots youth-led organizations and is continuously engaged in the advocacy to shift climate philanthropy to youth and locally-led organizations.
