Biography
In 2021, J. Kenneth Wickiser left the US government to help found the Global Alliance for Preventing Pandemics, a center at Columbia University dedicated to technical workforce development, standardization of best practices, and dedication to transparent data sharing among international partner organizations in the fight to identify and contain emerging pathogens using advanced serology and NGS techniques. The GAPP team has built a proven technical training curriculum and has developed a robust and collaborative network of trusted partners in public health and clinical research organizations in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Kenya, Mexico, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Malaysia, Bangladesh and is expanding to Brazil, Taiwan, Peru, and Indonesia, among other locations. GAPP relies on trusted collaborations with ministries of health, national public health institutes, universities, philanthropic foundations, WHO, Africa CDC, US CDC, NIAID, and USAID.
