Koval Bhatia is a filmmaker and producer based in India. Her first feature documentary as a producer (Against The Tide) received the Special Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival ‘23 and the Grand Jury Prize at Seattle IFF in addition to the Best Feature Documentary at Asia Pacific Screen Awards and the Golden Gateway Prize at MAMI 2023. She was nominated at the Gotham Awards and IDA Awards for the film. Her short documentary as director and producer titled She Run The World premiered at DCEFF and Hot Docs Canada in 2023. Her feature debut as a director received The Whickers Development Fund 2025.
She works as a reviewer at organizations including IDA, Catapult Film Fund, Doc Society, and the British Film Institute. She serves as Chair of Jury (Best Features) at the IDA Awards and as a mentor at the Open Table program for Indonesia Docs as well as Producerland in India. Koval is a member of the Asia Pacific Screen Academy, Film Fatales and BGDM.
At the moment, Koval works as a Program Co-Director for the Solutions Storytelling Project (Asia) at The Video Consortium.
