Lysa John

Biography

I have a background in human rights, international development and social justice, with over 25 years of experience working for local and global networks.

My professional journey includes supporting urban poor movements in India, leading transnational campaigns on governance accountability and serving as the Head of Outreach for the UN High Level Panel on the Post-2015 agenda. I have also worked as Global Campaigns Director at Save the Children and, most recently, as Secretary General of the global civil society alliance, CIVICUS.

I have contributed to several networks in an advisory capacity including the Global Partnership for Sustainable Data Development, the International Budget Partnership,, the Open Government Partnership and the World Benchmarking Alliance. I stay grounded through yoga, meditation and gratitude for the worldwide network of friends, family and fellow activists who nurture and inspire me.
