Biography

MSc. María Pía Hernández Palacios, lawyer specialized in international environmental law.Since March 2023 she has been acting as regional manager of the Territorial Mesoamerican Fund (FTM), which is an alternative financial mechanism that serves as a “vehicle” to facilitate territorial investment, designed by the Mesoamerican Alliance of Peoples and Forests to benefit indigenous peoples' organizations and local communities in the main forested, highly biodiverse areas of natural and cultural heritage of importance in Mesoamerica. The FTM, despite being a recent 3 years initiative, has already allocated more than 2 USD million for small and medium-sized donations implemented by Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities in Mesoamerica.
