Biography

Marissa Cuevas is the founder & CEO of microTERRA, a climate tech start-up that transforms water pollution into functional ingredients. Recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Tech Pioneer, microTERRA’s vision is to create ingredients that help protect the environment—ingredients that clean water instead of consuming it.
She has been recognized by MIT as one of Latam’s most innovative people under 35, is an Echoing Green Fellow, and a National Geographic Explorer.
Marissa holds a bachelor’s in energy and process engineering from the Technical University of Berlin and a master’s in sustainability management from Columbia University. She participated in the 2017 Global Solutions Program at Singularity University.
Previously, she worked as an energy advisor for the German Cooperation Agency and founded Kitcel, a circular economy start-up that upcycled styrofoam waste. She is also part of entrepreneurial communities like IndieBio, Techstars Sustainability, and the WEF.
