Biography

Martin is co-founder of Ubuntu.Lab Institute (ULI), Africa’s regional school of the Presencing Institute where he is Senior Faculty. ULI integrates, through action learning, Ubuntu Philosophy and Theory U to foster Africa’s transformation. He is Visiting Fellow of the University of Oxford’s Said Business School. Martin’s current work focuses on designing and facilitating innovation labs for change-makers and businesses seeking to be a force for good, in line with the SDGs. Through the Presencing Institute, he works with leaders from OECD countries who are prototyping ways of creating education systems that allow human beings to flourish. Between March 2005 and May 2008, Martin served as Special Consultant to the President of Zambia. Arising from this experience, he coaches chiefs of staff to Heads of State and senior government officials in different parts of the world. He is the author of the bestseller Leading Like Madiba: Leadership Lessons From Nelson Mandela," among other books.
