Biography

Mercedes Doretti is a forensic anthropologist, co-founder, and current General Director of the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team (EAAF). She also co-founded and served as President of the Latin American Association of Forensic Anthropology (ALAF). She is the co-author of the book "New Forensic Search Technologies: Resources for Mexico's Disappearance Crisis", a work that provides key tools to address this issue in the region.

With a professional career spanning over 20 countries, she has applied forensic sciences to investigate cases of human rights violations, contributing to justice and truth for victims and their families. Her outstanding work earned her a spot as one of the BBC's 100 most influential women in the world, and in 2007, she was awarded the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship, also known as the "genius grant."
