Biography
Millicent Miruka was among the first Community Health Workers (CHWs) trained by Lwala Community Alliance and the Ministry of Health in Migori County, Kenya. Motivated by a desire to save the lives of mothers and children, she became a CHW. With firsthand experience, Millicent understands the profound impact of her work—guiding pregnant mothers to ensure healthy births and providing ongoing support to children to prevent and manage illnesses.
Millicent is not just a healthcare worker but a catalyst for change. She is a trained advocate who champions the critical role of CHWs. Millicent has contributed to global platforms, including delivering a keynote speech at the 2023 USAID MOMENTUM Maternal and Child Survival event, serving as a CHW panellist at the 2023 Maternal, Infant & Young Child Nutrition Community of Practice Convening, and presenting an opening speech at the 2025 Schwab Foundation Awards at the World Economic Forum.
