Mohammed Shahnawaz

Co-founder and COOKhushi Baby

Biography

Mohammed Shahnawaz, a former doctoral fellow, is the COO and Co-Founder of Khushi Baby, an award-winning community health innovation organization leveraging technology to transform last-mile public health delivery in India.
Born and raised in Bihar, in a region often labeled backward yet rich in cultural diversity and community resilience, Shahnawaz’s upbringing deeply shaped his commitment to equity and grassroots health improvement. His early life experiences instilled in him a belief that communities—no matter how underserved—deserve dignified healthcare supported by reliable systems.
As a researcher, he consistently encountered poor-quality health data—a challenge that sparked his mission to strengthen data systems at the grassroots. During this time, he met Ruchit Nagar, then a Yale University public health student, who had developed a digital immunization tracking prototype. Their shared vision of leveraging technology for community health became the foundation for Khushi Baby
