CEOFreedom Fund

Biography

Nick was appointed inaugural CEO of the Freedom Fund in January 2014. The Fund invests in frontline organisations and movements to drive a measurable reduction of modern slavery in high-prevalence countries and industries. It was launched by President Bill Clinton in New York in September 2013, who declared at the time, “This is a huge deal and we should all support this.”
In eleven years of operation, the Freedom Fund has worked with nearly 300 frontline partners around the world, including many led by survivors of slavery, to reduce the number of individuals in modern slavery by 200,000 and return over 236,000 at-risk children to school. Overall, its programs have impacted the lives of nearly 1.7 million people and transformed the systems that put millions more at risk of exploitation.
Nick serves on the advisory councils of Global Witness and the McCain Institute. Prior to the Freedom Fund, he was the inaugural CEO of the Walk Free Foundation, a key international actor in the fight
