Biography

Ntakamaze is a refugee and the Executive Director of CIYOTA, a charitable organization that focuses on educating refugees and internally displaced youth in East African countries. He previously served as a research assistant at Oxford University, was a fellow at AL for Education, and received the Gene Dewey Refugee Award in 2024, recognizing his significant contributions to refugee education. Ntakamaze played a vital role in founding CIYOTA in 2005, which has since supported over 6,000 children in primary school, more than 2,000 youth in secondary education, and 108 students in university. Additionally, CIYOTA has helped over 200,000 displaced persons, especially youth, through various skilling programs since its inception.
