Biography
I am the current Director General for Health in the Ministry of Health, Kenya where I spearheads strategy development for effective delivery of health services in Kenya, as well as former President of the WHO Executive Board. I have over 30 years experience in health systems management, reproductive health and public health at community, country, regional, continental and global level. I have led Successful development of key national and international health policies and guidelines including the Universal Health Coverage roadmap for Kenya, and introduction of Pneumococcal, HPV and Rotavirus vaccines into the national immunization schedule.
I was the technical lead of the Ministry of Health in the successful containment and management of COVID-19 pandemic in Kenya through development of protocols on testing, reporting, contact tracing and COVID-19 vaccine introduction in Kenya. I am a recipient of two Presidential honors for distinguished professional service to the public.
