Biography

Penelope leads the World Bank’s Partnership portfolio, managing corporate relationships with constituencies across civil society, philanthropy, academia and the private sector. She has worked across the public and private sectors, with a track record of creating innovative partnerships, nurturing entrepreneurial initiatives, and mobilizing support for solutions to complex challenges. Before joining the World Bank, Penelope worked with the United Nations, with extended postings with both the World Food Program and UNICEF in humanitarian emergencies across sub-Saharan Africa and in the Balkans. Subsequently, she founded her own communications firm and worked with clients across philanthropy, civil society and the UN. She started her career as a reporter with the BBC. Penelope earned a master’s degree in history from Cambridge University.
