Raby Gueye

CEO/FounderTeach for Senegal

Biography

Raby Gueye is the founder and Executive Director of Teach For Senegal. Born in Podor, Senegal, she moved to the U.S. at 8 and has remained committed to social justice. At Arizona State University, she researched gender violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo and taught English in underserved communities in India, collaborating with NGOs to improve literacy. In 2015, she joined Teach For America, teaching in urban and rural public schools.

In 2020, Raby founded Teach For Senegal, a nonprofit recruiting young Senegalese leaders from the diaspora and within Senegal to serve as full-time teachers. Since its launch, the organization has recruited 38 fellows, impacting over 2,500 students in Northern Senegal.

A 2019 Echoing Green Fellow and Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, Raby holds a bachelor’s in Global Studies and a master’s in Elementary Education. In 2022, she was honored at the World Youth Forum by Egypt’s president for her work with Teach For Senegal.
