Biography
Rachel leads the Center for Advancing the American Dream at the Milken Institute, a new cultural institution focused on expanding opportunity and access, located across from the White House. Previously, she directed the revitalization and reopening of the Smithsonian's Arts & Industries Building, closed for over a decade, as a space to explore creativity, innovation and the future. From 2009 to 2015, Rachel served as Executive Director of the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities under President Obama, launching national initiatives in arts education and cultural diplomacy. A former international copyright attorney, Rachel also founded a documentary production company. She is a Trustee for the Greater Washington Community Foundation and a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute.
