Biography
Richard Casper is a U.S. Marine veteran, Purple Heart recipient, songwriter, and entrepreneur. He co-founded We Should Write Sometime—a tech startup connecting songwriters globally—and CreatiVets, a nonprofit empowering wounded veterans through the arts and music. His songwriting has earned 80+ film and TV placements, with recordings by Justin Moore, Craig Morgan, Aaron Lewis, Vince Gill, and more. Honored as a CNN Hero (2022) and TIME Magazine’s Next Generation Leader (2017), Richard’s transformative journey—from surviving four IED blasts in Iraq to discovering healing through art—has been featured in TIME’s documentary Evidence of Things Unseen. Recognized by the Bush Institute and most recently won the 2025 Elevate Prize Award, he now pioneers veteran-created music and innovative platforms to address trauma, while also teaching art and speaking on resilience and transformation.
