Roeland Monasch

Biography

Roeland Monasch is the Co-CEO of Aflatoun International, a social franchise delivering Social, Financial, and Entrepreneurship Education through a network of 400+ partner organizations across more than 100 countries. Aflatoun’s mission is to inspire young people to empower themselves socially and economically, becoming agents of change for a more equitable future. The organization employs a dual approach: partnering with CSOs to reach vulnerable children, including girls, children with disabilities, and out-of-school youth, while collaborating with central banks and ministries of education to integrate social and financial education into national curricula, fostering systemic change. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Roeland leads Aflatoun’s newly established Global Programmes Hub. Before joining Aflatoun, he spent over 20 years with the UN (UNICEF and WHO), serving as UNICEF Representative in Sierra Leone, Georgia, and Zimbabwe. Roeland is married and has an eighteen-year-old daughter.
