Biography

Ms. Saira Soofi is a legal expert with over fifteen years of professional experience. She earned an LLM degree from the University of London (Queen Mary & UCL Program) in the year 2006. Her earlier legal practice experience includes serving as Senior Associate at Chima and Ibrahim Advocates where she lent her expertise in corporate transactional work for high profile clients, consumer laws, labour laws, intellectual property laws, and regulatory affairs. She also served as Legal Counsel and Company Secretary at Akzo Nobel Pakistan Limited from 2012 to 2015 where she rendered advise on all legal, policy and environmental issues arising in the course of business including drafting/vetting of all documentation; involved in taxation matters, provided litigation support to the company, rendered advice on commercial proposals of the business in accordance with consumer laws, competition laws, and ensured mitigation of legal exposure of the company. Other positions held by Ms. Soofi include Senior Legal Counsel positions at Coca Cola Beverages Pakistan Limited and Irfan & Irfan (Attorneys at Law).

Ms. Soofi is currently the Head of Legal and Company Secretary at Kashf Foundation since 2017, the first ever specialized Micro-finance Institution set up in Pakistan. She oversees all corporate legal affairs of the company, and provides expertise on policy making, contractual matters, company laws including licensing, regulation, and commercial laws. Her company secretarial work involves convening of Board and General Meetings in accordance with statutory requirements, ensuring prompt filings of various documents, returns, and forms, and providing expertise on codes of corporate governance, and other corporate regulations. She oversees and leads both the corporate, and litigation teams at Kashf Foundation in her capacity as the Head of Legal.
