Biography

I am the team leader and co-founder of Afya Research Africa, a non-profit that operates a network of 25 primary healthcare centers in rural Kenya, known as Ubuntu-Afya Kiosks. These kiosks are uniquely community co-owned and incorporate savings and credit schemes whose interest revenue helps cross-subsidize the cost of care, ensuring sustainability and affordability.

As a pediatric neurologist, I am also the founder of Ubuntu Neurology, a social enterprise that delivers neurology and neurophysiological services to low- and middle-income communities. The revenue generated supports our broader mission of improving healthcare access in rural areas.

I have played a key role in fostering collaboration between private and public sector stakeholders to advance healthcare delivery in rural settings. My work has also focused on shaping policy and strategy for eHealth interoperability and strengthening human resource and technical capacity in neurology across East Africa.
