Biography

Stephen is a Special Advisor with the Omidyar Group. Founded by Pierre and Pam Omidyar, The Omidyar Group is a diverse collection of companies, organizations and initiatives, each guided by its own approach, but all united by a common desire to catalyze social impact. Stephen was the founding CEO of Luminate – www.luminategroup.com, a global philanthropic organisation which focuses on ensuring that technology works for the benefit of all in society. He brings over 25 years of executive leadership experience to his role, with a career focus on using media and technology to create positive social impact and hold power to account. Prior to Luminate, Stephen was a Partner at Omidyar Network and was CEO of BBC Media Action. He is a board member of Oxfam GB, Co-Creation Hub in Nigeria, Myanmar Trust UK and is a Global Ambassador for SOAS, University of London.
