Swapnasri Sarangi

Biography

I'm a double post-graduate with a degree in Social Work from the Tata Institute of Social Services (TISS) and History from Hyderabad Central University. I have been working with Foundation for Ecological Security(FES) for better governance and management of shared Commons like forests, water, land, and other life forms for the past 25 years. I have been directly working with the rural communities of Odisha, an eastern Indian state, in crafting and strengthening community institutions for better governance of natural resources in the state. I have also led multi disciplinary teams of professionals for implementation of large-scale projects around nature conservation, climate action, and livelihood improvement. I also liaison with government officials and build collaboration with other actors in the state and across for creation of an enabling ecosystem for strengthening the work on Commons. I'm currently working as the Gender, Diversity and Inclusion Head of FES.
