Biography

Thokozani is a medical doctor and global health professional with over five years of experience working with Malawi’s Ministry of Health, Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust and the Pandemic Sciences Institute at the University of Oxford. She has held leadership roles including acting director of health services for the Lilongwe District Health which oversees health services in Malawi’s capital and head of clinical services, deputising the director of health services (DHS). Thokozani had led the public health response in Lilongwe, implementing critical interventions to mitigate the impacts of these crises while advocating for stronger, more resilient health systems. Her contributions have extended to supporting the development and refining of pandemic preparedness and response policies and training guidelines in Malawi. She is an inaugural Biosecurity Fellow at Brown University and Pandemic Action Network.
