Thuane Nascimento

Biography

Executive Director of PerifaConnection, a platform for contesting narratives and fostering confluence among Brazil’s peripheries.

Born and raised in Vila Operária, a favela in Duque de Caxias, Baixada Fluminense (RJ), where she works on the Movimenta Caxias initiative and volunteers as a teacher at the Pré-Vestibular Popular +Nós. She holds a law degree from UFRJ, where her academic journey focused on the Right to the City, land access, popular advocacy, and legal sociology.

A speaker on issues related to race and the periphery, climate justice, environmental racism, and popular communication.

An academic researcher in the fields of agrarian reform, housing rights, social movements, and popular legal advocacy.

She was part of the Under40 initiative of the U.S. Consulate in Rio de Janeiro and currently serves on its advisory board. She is also a board member of the SETA Project for anti-racist education. A Responsible Leader with the BMW Foundation.
