Biography

Umar is an experienced program manager with a strong background in innovation, research, and policy development across multiple sectors. Umar has worked extensively with government policymakers in Nigeria, Ghana, and other African countries, driving initiatives to strengthen innovation ecosystems and support commercialization pathways along the lines of Science Technology and Innovation (STI).
As the Program Manager for the Research and Innovation Systems for Africa (RISA) program, Umar provided technical advisory support across six countries, coordinating strategies to enhance research and innovation impact. With expertise in program management, stakeholder engagement, and policy alignment, Umar is passionate about fostering sustainable partnerships that address critical development challenges across Africa.
