Biography

Vyana Preti is a Venezuelan-born educator, theater director, playwright, and community leader. She is the co-founder and executive director of the Escuela de Teatro Musical de Petare, established in 2011 in one of the most underserved and violent slums in the world. Using theater as a tool for social transformation, the school has provided free training to over 500 children and teenagers. After migrating to the U.S., she founded and leads the Department of Education at Miami New Drama, developing impactful artistic programs for public schools. Vyana also co-founded Lugar Comun, an initiative amplifying Hispanic voices through the literary arts. She received the Remy Award for her contributions to children's theater in South Florida. With the support of the Moleskine Foundation, she represented the Petare's school at the Pact4theFuture Forum as part of the Creative Pioneers program. Vyana's work as a playwright creates plays that foster critical thinking and creativity in children.
