Biography

Willie Mpasuka is a visionary who educates children and trains teachers in under-resourced communities through Rays of Hope, the nonprofit he co-founded and currently leads. Founded in 2009, it has grown from serving 40 students to reaching over 240,000 students in seven education districts in Malawi through teacher training, Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL), and remediation. Rays of Hope has successfully partnered with the Malawi Government, bringing TaRL to 68 classrooms, serving 13,754 students. Initial assessments indicate improvements in numeracy and literacy, with gains of 4.8% and 5.1% respectively for grade 4 students. He sits on the Segal Family Foundation Malawi Advisory Board, and serves at the African Collaborative Grant Committee. He holds a master’s degree in International Development from Eastern University, U.S.A.
