Biography

I'm the Executive Editor and Vice President of Programs for Mongabay. I lead Mongabay's global newsroom through the editorial direction of our award-winning journalism projects. I oversees news gathering and publishing in English and created Mongabay's video, investigative, and data journalism programs. I've collaborated with thousands of journalists to craft in-depth stories and develop publications that have amplified the voices of people living closest to hotspots of environmental change. I've managed and edited time-sensitive story campaigns engaging journalists to produce in-depth multimedia content for their media houses; including Reuters, National Geographic, Al Jazeera, NowThis, Newsweek, Vice, The Guardian, Vox, Caixin, Bloomberg BNA, Nikkei, China Dialogue, The Hindu, and Tempo Indonesia, Willie has published original content for National Geographic Magazine Latin America, National Geographic News, Scientific American, Salon.com, SciDevNet and Mongabay.
