Biography

Carl L. Liederman is a leading international corporate lawyer, executive, and the Founder and CEO of LIEDERSHIP, an independent, client-focused, strategic advisory that operates globally on a trusted-advisor model (http://www.liedership.com), with a particular focus on the ESG, sustainability and impact sectors. He has considerable experience in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, impact and value-based investing, project management, philanthropy, compliance, and governance.

During his 25-year legal career, Carl spent his formative years at Cleary Gottlieb, has practiced law in New York, Washington, D.C., Paris, Geneva, and London, and has led deals in over 70 countries. Carl also has co-founded charities, led charities, chaired charitable boards, advised leading charities, as well as foundations and Fortune 100 companies on their global strategies and specific projects, over a 25-year period. He has extensive experience in impact measurement, business development, project management, and consensus building. Carl is a frequent speaker, panelist, and moderator at international conferences and has served in many leadership and advisory positions throughout his career.

Carl is a member of the bars of New York and Washington, DC, and is a registered foreign lawyer in England & Wales. He received his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he served as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Journal of International Law, and his B.A. from Pomona College, summa cum laude, valedictorian. He is fluent in French and conversant in Italian, Spanish and Greek. He is a citizen of Germany, the US, and UK.
