Biography
I joined Greylock Partners in 1969, and was responsible for the firm's early involvement in the software industry while overseeing Greylock's strategic direction. Over the ensuing 45 years, Greylock has raised fourteen partnership with current committed capital in excess of $3 billion, and helped build over 300 developing companies. I received the National Venture Capital Association's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004, Harvard Business School's Award for Alumni Achievement in 2003, and was voted one of the country's 10 best VCs by Forbes in 2000. I am a director of Cure Alzheimer's Fund, which I co-founded in 2006, a non-profit which uses the venture capital model to fund breakthrough research on Alzheimer's Disease. I am a trustee of the McCance Foundation, a family foundation which supports education of disadvantaged children, conservation, and medical research. In 2010, I became a partner of Fenway Sports Group, which owns the Boston Red Sox and the Liverpool Football Club.
