Oren Yakobovich

Biography

Oren’s entrepreneurship in social justice focuses on harnessing technology,
contributing to initiatives for the advancement of democracy and holding power to account. His current organisation, Kamara, has deployed significant technical capacities for monitoring online civic space in both open and closed forums, continuously
developing the strategic use of technology and analysis to increase capacities
for effective narratives, communications and campaigning as well as utilising advanced investigation techniques to provide research insights to civil society on their adversaries.
Prior to Kamara, he co-founded Videre Est Credere, an NGO with ground-breaking methodologies to equip oppressed communities with customised technology to uncover information and expose human rights abuses from places where media can’t or won’t go. Oren is an Ashoka Fellow, recipient of a Skoll Award and One Media Award, and a Ted Global speaker.
