Biography
Shauna Carey is an independent consultant and an Executive Advisor at IDEO.org, leveraging her deep expertise in social impact, strategic innovation, and storytelling to help visionary leaders build organizations that meet the moment.
Before stepping into this role, Shauna spent over a decade at IDEO.org in a variety of leadership roles, including Chief Executive Officer, Executive Design Director, and Chief Communications Officer. In that time, Shauna worked on projects and programs focused on advancing health equity, criminal justice reform, refugee rights, gender equality, and climate resilience.
Prior to joining IDEO.org, Shauna worked to expand access to quality education and health care at organizations like Room to Read, the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, and a number of mission-driven startups in Europe and the San Francisco Bay Area. A social scientist at heart, Shauna holds a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
