Catie Lott began her professional career as a journalist, working for a variety of publications in the United States and Africa. Dr. Lott’s work as a journalist in Somalia led to her embarking on a second career in international development. After working as a consultant and professional with a range of non-governmental organizations, she joined USAID as a democracy and governance specialist. Dr. Lott has developed and implemented development projects across the globe, from Africa to Latin America to Asia. As a senior manager for USAID, Dr. Lott has served overseas as the deputy Mission Director in Tanzania and most recently as the USAID/Malawi Mission Director. She has recently returned to Washington, D.C., as the newly appointed USAID Innovation Director. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Maastricht University, Netherlands.
