Advance social progress by hosting or joining independent events during the Skoll World Forum

Each year, Skoll World Forum delegates and the public can host or join events that take place independently of the Forum to drive social change during Forum week.

Two Skoll Foundation partners, Marmalade Festival and The Sidebar, advance progress with unique approaches: Marmalade hosts diverse, solution-oriented events while The Sidebar maps and connects people and events.

The Marmalade Festival

Led by our partner Marmalade, the Marmalade Festival hosts independent events during the Skoll World Forum to explore and expand solutions to social problems. The 2025 Marmalade Festival will take place April 1-4 at the Old Fire Station with free or low-cost events open to everyone. You can sign up to attend events using the Marmalade calendar once it’s available in February.

How and why to host an event

To design and host an event, submit an application for Marmalade Festival here until January 13, 2025.

This is a great opportunity to host impactful conversations and find people working toward similar goals in an organized event setting. Formats typically range from lively debates to moderated panels to networking receptions.

The Sidebar

The Sidebar is an open-source community initiative designed to foster connections among solutions-oriented people and events. It aims to help leaders explore innovative solutions and partnerships.

Launched at the 2024 Skoll World Forum, it’s open to Forum delegates and the public. Find relevant people and events at this link, which will be updated closer to the Forum.
