The Changing World of Work: Does the Collaborative Economy Foster Trust or Inequity?
Friday, April 15, 2016
Session Description
It is often dubbed “the gig economy” and lauded as a new economic system based on trust where people rent, lend, or share their cars, homes, and pets–among other things–with strangers. But does this technology-based model promote empowered workers who feel they are masters of their own destiny, or an angry mob of men and women working for people who have more money than time? This session will explore the tensions inherent in the rise of the “collaborative” or “sharing” economy.
