Engaging Mission-Aligned Funders | Advancement Outreach Best Practices

Thursday, April 2, 2020

Session Description

Uncovering & Engaging New Funders in the Era of COVID-19

Connecting and building relationships with new funders requires courage, patience, and professional perseverance. You are right to be concerned that COVID-19, and the cancellation of the Skoll World Forum, will affect your fundraising success in 2020 and beyond.

Join us for this session on advancement outreach, strengthening current grantor relationships, and cultivating new funding relationships. Advancement Specialists Toby Banks, Karen Doyle Grossman, Kelly Baxter Spitz, and Kellyn Lovell from Black Fox Philanthropy will share best practices for advancing relationships with funders, including in the era of COVID-19.

We will also address common challenges when approaching prospective funders, such as:

1. How to approach funders who don’t accept unsolicited proposals.

2. How to approach funders with whom you have no “warm” introduction.

3. What to do when you see huge mission alignment with a funder but there is one key requirement you don’t meet.

As part of our commitment to you and your future fundraising success, we designed this session to help you navigate these (and other) challenges. To help you address your specific pain points, we will conclude with an open Q&A.

Black Fox is a leading fundraising firm serving international NGOs and domestic nonprofits. Our mission is to help worthy organizations attract significant and sustainable funding so they can effect deep and lasting social change.
