Fundraising Roadmap | Attracting Bold & Big Bet Funding

Friday, April 3, 2020

Session Description

Bold ($1M+) and Big Bet ($10M+) funds are every organization’s dream for many reasons. It requires less administrative overhead for organizations in the long-term and enables them to work with fewer and larger giving partners, which cuts processing and relationship management time down significantly, freeing its staff to do more mission-critical work.

Natalie Rekstad of Black Fox Philanthropy, B Corp, and Kimberly Westerfield, global philanthropy professional and current Portfolio Lead and Program Officer at the Western Union Foundation, will share expert, targeted, informed, and in-depth research and insights around what inspires philanthropic entities to invest at their most significant levels to a single organization, project, or program.

Regardless of your organization’s size, this session’s takeaway will include a written report with clear and actionable steps toward positioning yourself more effectively to attract greater funding. Key insights shared are not public-facing, yet factor into what makes an organization and its leadership stand apart from others competing for Big Bet funding.

Findings were sourced through Black Fox Philanthropy private interviews with Co-Impact, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, Heising-Simons Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, MasterCard Foundation, and The Audacious Prize/TED. Greater research was conducted sector-wide including from published works by The Bridgespan Group, Stanford Social Innovation Review, and more.
