People Power: Civic Engagement Pioneers

Thursday, April 2, 2020

Session Description

Foreign interference in elections, attacks against the press and speech, and direct assaults on human and environmental rights are daily news. While diverse in nature and specific to local contexts, each of these trends takes power from the people and concentrates the influence of wealthy, special interests. While top-down strategies to bolster democracy have largely failed, localized solutions driven by local constituents have proven effective. Hear from leaders who are pioneering innovative approaches to civic engagement, amplifying the collective voice of their local communities, and mobilizing citizens at the national level.
