Systemic Innovation Labs – Food Security case study

Session Description

This session will discuss a methodology for Systemic Innovation Lab's, the FEMLAS process. This workshop will be co-presented by Emily Humphreys' CEO of Wicked Lab and Dr Stephanie Godrich Senior Lecturer, Public Health (Nutrition) at Edith Cowan University Western Australia.

Systemic Innovation Labs aim to address wicked problems by transitioning systems through a multi-stakeholder and systemic design process. This new lab type is designed specifically for addressing wicked problems and supports practitioners to take a complexity, solution ecosystem and systemic innovation approach.

Wicked Lab has developed a methodology to support core teams to apply this process. This six-stage process is called FEMLAS. The six stages of the FEMLAS process are: Form, Explore, Map, Learn, Address and Share. Emily will provide an overview of the underpinning research that supports this new Lab Type as well as an overview of the FEMLAS process. Dr Stephanie Godrich will present a case study on the South West Food Community, a Systemic Innovation Lab she established in South West Western Australia to address Food insecurity.

This online session will go for approximately 45min with 15 mins Q & A at the end.
