From the Venezuelan jungle, join artist singer/songwriter Liana Malva and her team on a journey deep
inside the wonders of nature and the catastrophic threats faced in these lands. In this session you ‘ll have the opportunity to hear Liana’s story on how she was raised in La Gran Sabana—a stunning landscape in South East Venezuela—and how she uses music to tell stories and spur actions to promote sustainable development and environmental protection.
This session was curated in partnership with GOTAS.
Liana Malva is a Venezuelan artist, multi instrumentalist - singer songwriter and a nature activist. She was raised in one of the most ancient natural places on the world called La Gran Sabana, in a small Community with no more than 300 people among them the indigenous people from the Pemon ethnic group and foreigners. This experience motivated her to create "GOTAS, a musical journey inspired in Venezuela" a project that wants to show the world through a series of musical videos the natural beauties of her country and remember the Venezuelan people the sense of belonging since some of this places are endangered of being destroyed by human impact, like the place where Liana was raised, where currently many of the rivers are being contaminated and the jungles cut down as a consequence of illegal mining. For that reason, GOTAS promotes through art and environmental education the importance of protecting these rivers, cultural heritage and natural reserves for future generations.
From a very young age, liana showed her interest in music and singing, at the age of 9 her family decided to return to Caracas. This was a very difficult change, but it was in the city where she found her passion and studied singing, music composition and discover the power in music to transform, delivering a message and have a positive influence on society.
Liana has been influenced by many genres through her life and this has given her the power of versatility, finding in each genre different sounds and skills to develop and create her own expression.
She has collaborated with some of the most important artists and bands of Venezuela like CANSERBERO, Mcklopedia, Gerry Weil, Anakena, El Otro Polo and has been invited to sing with Los Amigos Invisibles and Desorden Publico two of the most important bands of Venezuelan history.
On this 2021 Liana will be releasing new music including her first official album, singles and continue working in the evolution of GOTAS.

The world is changing at an ever faster pace, economic models, institutions and societies must prepare for an increasingly complex, diverse and changing reality. Since I was young I have had a fascination for understanding the social, political and economic reality that surrounds us. I consider that for the minds that are "softwired" by the internet, understanding the complexity and interdependence of factors has been practically intuitive.
I like to think that it is possible to be focused on the present while keeping an eye on our possible futures. I have embraced strategic planning and prospective analysis tools to seek to inject strategic thinking into innovative projects of a different nature. At the same time, I have been captivated by the formation of high-performance teams and the possibility of building decision support systems for organizations and desition makers. In the last 7 years I have been implementing strategic innovation in contexts of crisis and high uncertainty. Currently focused on the regional scaling of a "Tech & Impact Portafolio" of companies and projects for Latin America.
